permalink  What happens when you make stupid campaign promises?

“Hope and change” continues to run into real world realities. I like what Mitt Romney said about Pres BO and Gitmo:

“I think that President Obama is learning now that he is in office that a number of the things that he campaigned against and opposed, he was actually wrong on,” former presidential candidate Mitt Romney told FOX News.

“He is having to change course on a number of very important issues and people recognize that. It’s a learning experience for him and some of the simple answers he offered during the campaign, he’s not following anymore.”

Gitmo detainees homeless

I love this from Ed Morrissey:

The times, they are a-changing … back!

Barack Obama promised to close the detention center at Guantanamo Bay and end the military tribunal process that he opposed as a Senator for its detainees if elected President. After taking the oath of office, Obama fulfilled that promise by ordering the shutdown of Gitmo and halting the tribunals. Now, three months later, the Obama administration can’t find nations willing to accept murderous, lunatic terrorists as guests, and suddenly those military tribunals look pretty good…

Yes, bashing GITMO was a lot easier when there were no consequences. It looks a lot different now. It’s one thing to say “close it” and quite another to actually close it!

First, none of our allies in love with BO are stepping forward and picking up anyone. I guess that France will pick up one. Everybody is saying: Why should we take these dangerous people?

Second, what congressman wants these people in his district anyway?

Guess what’s back? Guess what they are saying now:

“The more they look at it,” said one official, “the more commissions don’t look as bad as they did on Jan. 20.”

Just curious. Who is going to apologize to Pres Bush and VP Cheney? Also, who is going to tell the “yes we can” screamers that their guy just told them what they wanted to hear? Last, but not least, what if candidate BO had said any of this during the campaign?

Power Line got it right:

“I hope someone is keeping track of Obama’s many sub silentio ratifications of once-criticized Bush administration policies.”

P.S. Professor Darren Hutchinson posted this:

“But Obama has embraced many of the same positions that liberals and Obama himself criticized…..”
