(This chart is from The non-recession continues)
Where in the world would you rather look for a job or start a business?
We have seen this movie before. 1992 was the most recent version.
Remember 1992? Remember the horrible US economy and how everything was going to heck. Remember how candidate Clinton beat up Pres. Bush for doing business with China. After the election, Pres. Clinton signed a huge trade deal with China!
Remember how candidate Gore beat up Pres. Bush for letting Saddam get away with WMDs:
Remember 1992?
What happened? Pres. Clinton inherited an economy recovery that started in 1992. Worse than that, he appointed 2 justices to the Supreme Court.
The “doom and gloom” parade is back. Everything is bad. Everything is terrible.
I guess that 5.5% unemployment is suddenly bad. Go figure that!
In fact, the US is the envy of the world. We are still the one place where people want to put their money and move to.
Bill O’Reilly has an interesting thought in A Nation in Decline?:
“Overseas, the world is largely a mess. Africa remains a chaotic cauldron of corruption, China continues its authoritarian rule, and there’s no letup in the India-Pakistan hatred. Would you like to live in those countries?
Russia continues to lead in the league of corruption, Mexico is fighting a brutal war against its own drug traffickers, and South America remains mired in poverty. Call me crazy, but I don’t see many immigrants pounding on those doors.
Of course, many liberal Americans blame the USA for the world’s misfortunes and side with those who, for whatever reason, verbally downgrade the United States. However, considering the sad state of a world that will not even unite against a nuclear weapons-seeking Iran, our so-called “decline” is a terrible misreading of the global picture.
Against all odds, U.S. forces have almost single-handedly defeated Islamic fascism in Iraq, one of the most complicated battlefields in history. In Afghanistan, U.S. and NATO troops continue to hammer the vicious Taliban on every front. The only reason those fascists are operating is that Pakistan protects them. If the Pakistanis would ally themselves with NATO, the Taliban would be wiped out.
Back home, the Bush administration has succeeded in making it ultra-difficult for terrorists to kill us. The FBI and other federal agencies have been effectively reorganized, and the nation is much safer for it. That doesn’t sound like a decline to me.”
That’s right.
We are not a nation in decline, unless you are a Democrat and you’ve lost 7 of the last 10 presidential elections!
Or, you are The New York Times and circulation is dropping!
We are not a nation in decline, unless you invested your political hopes and dreams in a guy like Obama who is now going to reverse all of his primary positions. (Obama: Sounding Like Thomas and Scalia?)
Decline? No way! Go to any foreign capital and check the lines outside the US embassy.
Trust me. They are not lined up to watch a movie. They are lined up to seek a visa to come to the US
Here is one more thought: We have not been attacked since 9-11!
The Democrats did it in 1992 and 1976. They tell you that everything is horrible and that change is the only answer.
Beware of “doom and gloom” politics! They call for “change” without any specifics, except “tax the rich” and beat up those evil oil companies.
Beware of change. Beware of change based on hyperbole and an exaggeration of the facts. It usually ends up giving you Carter or the first two years of Clinton.
Does any Democrat want a replay of the Carter years or the first two years of Clinton and a Dem Congress?
P.S. By the way, Republicans have been the beneficiaries of the last two instances of a Dem president and a Dem Congress. We got the Reagan landslide of 1980 after Carter. We got the Republican takeover of the House and Senate in 1994 after two yeas of Clinton and a Dem Congress!
